30 minutes. You describe what is blocking you and I tell you honestly what I would do about it. If it makes sense for both of us, you have a scoped proposal within 24 hours.

First 30 days

Week 1 is a full audit: code, team, vendors, tooling. Weeks 2 and 3 are prioritisation with you. By end of month 1, you have a written 90-day roadmap with three things that will actually move your business.

Ongoing rhythm

One standing weekly review. Embedded in your Slack. Available for vendor calls, hiring screens, and architecture decisions. Roughly 20 hours a week, adjusting to 30 during launches, fundraising, or due diligence.

How it ends

Month-to-month after an initial 3-month commitment. No equity required. This is not a one-time handoff. Either we keep going, your internal leadership grows past needing me, or you hire a full-time CTO. All three are a success.

What exactly does a Fractional CTO do?

Unlike a consultant who advises from the outside, I work as part of your team. I attend standups, own architecture decisions, manage vendors, and lead your technical strategy. You get a senior operator who is accountable for outcomes, not a report.

What is the difference between Fractional CTO and an Product Growth?

Fractional CTO is a leadership and advisory engagement where I embed into your existing setup. The Product Growth is my team at Whales Technology building and running your product month to month. Both involve me personally. Some clients do one, some do both.

Is this a one-time build or an ongoing engagement?

Ongoing. We build and ship your product, then stay on. After launch I work with you on user adoption, retention, and scaling what is working. You get a whole tech team, not a contractor who disappears after go-live.

What does the Product Growth actually include?

Everything. Design, product development, automated testing, growth strategy, and marketing support. We build and ship your product, then stay on to help you grow it. I bring product insight on what drives adoption and retention. Every fullstack engineer is hand-picked for your product and we use AI-led workflows to ship more for less.

How long until we launch?

Most MVPs ship in 8 to 12 weeks. We scope carefully upfront so you know exactly what you are getting and when.

How is this different from hiring a senior developer?

A senior developer writes code. A Fractional CTO owns the outcome. That means making sure the right things get built in the right order, that your team is set up to execute, and that your technology serves the business rather than the other way around.

How many hours a week do you work with us?

Roughly 20 hours a week in a normal sprint, adjusting to 30 during launches, fundraising, or due diligence. You also get responsiveness, not just scheduled time.

Do you take equity?

No. I work on a monthly retainer. Equity creates the wrong incentives for this kind of engagement.

What if I already have fullstack engineers?

Most engagements involve an existing team. I work with what you have, help you fill gaps, and make sure your engineering function is set up for the stage you are at.
